Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenneth Davis (ranked 3128 p4p, 24541 weight class) and Andre Moreira (ranked 345 p4p, 607 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Andre Moreira enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenneth Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andre Moreira! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis moves into the clinch. Moreira fails to pull guard.
Davis lands with a short head shot on the inside. Davis lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Davis is trying to break the clinch but Moreira is controlling him. Davis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Davis misses with a knee to the head. Still in the clinch, Davis scores with a nice short uppercut. Davis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Moreira throws a body shot but no joy. We've been told by Davis's head coaches at Tran MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Moreira shoots in and gets a takedown into Davis's guard. Davis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Moreira. Davis wants to stand but Moreira is controlling the position. Moreira throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Moreira trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Moreira is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Moreira is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Moreira throws an elbow that misses. Davis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Moreira's guard. Nice move by Davis!

Davis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The fight stays on the outside here - Davis looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Davis cracks Moreira with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Moreira gets the takedown into side control. Moreira has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Javi Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Davis wants to get back to his feet but Moreira drags him back down. Moreira goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Davis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Moreira's guard! Nice work there by Davis!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moreira wants to sweep but no luck. Moreira is controlling Davis's posture. Moreira has a closed guard, preventing Davis from standing up. Moreira is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Davis is aware though and is defending well. Moreira looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Davis puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Moreira tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control. Davis gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis scores with a jab to the jaw. Good standup being displayed there by Moreira as he connects with a hook. Davis stuffs the takedown. A swing and a miss from Moreira. Moreira waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Davis. Andre Moreira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Davis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Davis tries to clinch up but Moreira circles away and keeps his distance. Moreira clobbers Davis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Davis is looking to clinch. Moreira takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Moreira throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Moreira is in Davis's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moreira missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Moreira throws a big elbow that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Moreira trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Davis wants to stand up but Moreira is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Davis tries to clinch up but Moreira circles away and keeps his distance. Moreira throws out a counter right but Davis avoids it with no problem. Moreira misses with a right hand enabling Davis to counter with a crisp jab. Moreira shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Davis pinned against the cage. Davis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kenneth Davis dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Davis throws a shot to the body.
Davis moves away from the strike by Moreira. Davis throws a big counter combination but Moreira scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Davis pushes Moreira up against the cage in a clinch. Moreira fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Moreira blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Davis scores with a hook to the body. Davis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Moreira blocks an elbow strike. Moreira can't get the takedown.
Davis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Davis tests Moreira's chin there with a solid looking shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis tries to clinch up and Moreira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Davis's guard. Davis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moreira is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Davis closes the distance and clinches. Moreira is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Davis pulls him back up using the underhooks. Kenneth Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Moreira. Davis crunches a lovely knee into Moreira's ribcage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis lands with a left to the head. Moreira drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Moreira throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Davis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Moreira. Moreira bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Moreira throwing strikes but Davis manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Davis working away. Moreira is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Davis wants to stand but Moreira is controlling his arm. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moreira can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Moreira prevents Davis from getting back to his feet. Moreira throwing strikes but missing. Davis wants to get back to his feet but Moreira is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Davis leaves Moreira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Davis slips a jab from Moreira. Moreira shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Davis napping and manages to drive through into side control! Moreira working the ground and pound. Davis is not content to let Moreira control the position. Moreira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Davis, who protects the arm well. Davis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Moreira asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Davis dodges the ground and pound from Moreira. Moreira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Davis, who protects the arm well. Moreira cracks Davis with a big right hand but Davis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Andre Moreira has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Moreira grinds an elbow into Davis's temple.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Moreira is controlling him well. Moreira lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Davis down.
Moreira prevents Davis from escaping the position. Moreira swings around for an armbar but Davis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Moreira's guard. Moreira is pulling down on Davis's head to control his posture. Let's hope that Moreira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Moreira has a closed guard, preventing Davis from standing up.
