PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fred Adams (ranked 5547 p4p, 3627 weight class) and Brian Dean (ranked 598 p4p, 449 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Dean!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Dean misses with a series of wild punches.
Adams moves away from the strike by Dean.
Dean misses with a left hand
and Adams counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Adams misses with a wild body shot.
Adams throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A big right from Dean misses.
Adams tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dean throws a sloppy head kick and Adams moves out of range easily.
Dean circles away from the clinch attempt.
Adams takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dean keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Nice uppercut there from Adams.
Dean misses with a body shot

and Adams counters by moving into the clinch.
Adams lands a left hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dean pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Adams moves into the clinch successfully.
Dean can't break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Adams working Dean over with knees to the body.
Adams connects with a knee to the head.
Adams swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Dean managing to block the knees to the body from Adams.
Adams has Dean pushed against the cage.
Adams using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Dean has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Adams crunches a lovely knee into Dean's ribcage.
Come on Adams - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Adams throws a knee to the head but misses.
The referee is keeping an eye on Adams - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Adams looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Adams misses with a punch on the inside.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Adams tries a knee to the head but Dean blocks it.

Dean pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Adams throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dean counters with a stiff right hand.
Adams tries to clinch there but Dean circles away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Adams tries to close the distance and clinch but Dean swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Adams tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dean manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dean is looking to slow Adams down with leg kicks.
Dean lands a jab-cross combination.
Dean misses with a wild body shot.
No joy there for Adams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Adams fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Adams misses with a straight right.
Dean throws a nice looking combination but Adams bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Adams closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Brian Dean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dean circles away from the clinch attempt
and Dean counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Adams misses with a looping right.
Dean on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Dean lands with a cross.
Adams connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Dean takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A left lands for Adams.

Dean is rocked!
Adams flashes Dean a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Dean's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Dean crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Adams punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fred Adams!
In his post fight interview, Fred Adams started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
