Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Jay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Solomon Spann! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spann tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jay swivels and escapes. Spann stuffs the takedown. Spann with the counter takedown but Jay avoids it easily. Spann drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Jay is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Spann looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Spann keeps trying to improve his position. Spann postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spann slips nicely into half guard. Spann seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Spann is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Jay is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
