Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Josh Roughan (ranked 3263 p4p, 5837 weight class) and Javier Montealdo (ranked 307 p4p, 435 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Josh Roughan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Javier Montealdo!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roughan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Montealdo takes a swing at Roughan's ribcage but misses.
Roughan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Roughan moves out of range of the strikes.
Roughan thinks about countering with a body kick.
Montealdo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Montealdo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Roughan sprawls well. Roughan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Montealdo gets slowly back to his feet.
Roughan seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roughan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Montealdo told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Roughan will probably get the nod.

Roughan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Montealdo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roughan has managed to get both his arms back between Montealdo's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Roughan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
