And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Eddie Gelfen! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Puto gets in close and instigates a clinch. Puto is trying to trip Gelfen. He has hold of a leg but Gelfen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Puto persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Puto (2) vs (0) Gelfen Puto wants to control from the top but Gelfen keeps moving. Puto trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gelfen holds on and takes a little breather. Puto drops back looking for a leg! Gelfen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gelfen manages to kick Puto off! Puto jumps back into Gelfen's guard. Gelfen trying to keep a closed guard but Puto is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Puto drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gelfen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Puto has Gelfen in his guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Puto (2) vs (2) Gelfen Gelfen is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gelfen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. My spies in King's Cross MMA inform me that Gelfen has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Puto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gelfen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gelfen trying to control the position from guard on top but Puto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gelfen advances to half guard. Gelfen is looking for a kimura but Puto is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gelfen to get the leverage. Puto is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Monsters BJJ that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Gelfen uses his free foot to push down on Puto's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Puto. Score +3 for passing guard: Puto (2) vs (5) Gelfen Gelfen wants to control the pace but Puto is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Puto is looking to get to half guard. Gelfen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Puto has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Gelfen wants to pass to mount but Puto is defending the position. Gelfen wants to control but Puto is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Puto looking for submissions off his back. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gelfen tries to pass to full mount but Puto defends it. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Puto trying to control from the bottom.
Gelfen is trying to control. Puto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Gelfen is looking for a kimura but Puto is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gelfen to get the leverage. Puto makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Puto. Puto looking for a triangle here. Gelfen is fighting it but it looks tight! Puto pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Gelfen is tapping out - this one is all over!
