Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vargas Thompson (ranked 2436 p4p, 3955 weight class) and Diaz Ortiz (ranked 261 p4p, 400 weight class). Thompson comes to the cage accompanied by Freddie King - Side Tracked. Diaz Ortiz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vargas Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diaz Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ortiz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sloppy strikes from Ortiz. Those never looked like landing.
Ortiz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Thompson has managed to clinch.
Ortiz swings wildly with an uppercut but Thompson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ortiz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Ortiz lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Thompson blocking some punches.
Ortiz gets through Thompson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ortiz lands with a short shot to the head.
Thompson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Thompson.
A head punch on the inside from Thompson fails to land.
Thompson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ortiz avoids it.
Ortiz lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Thompson backwards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ortiz lands with a short shot to the head.
Thompson is rocked!
Thompson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ortiz is keeping busy.
Oh Thompson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ortiz creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Thompson with a big uppercut! Thompson tries to clinch up but Ortiz pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Thompson to the mat! Thompson covers up and Ortiz unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Diaz Ortiz!
Our winner, Diaz Ortiz, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
