PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Summers (ranked 1992 p4p, 980 weight class) and Zee Land (ranked 218 p4p, 113 weight class). Land comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Heavy Metal we will die! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Summers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zee Land! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Land throws a leg kick but Summers sees it coming and checks it nicely. Land has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Summers on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Land. Land obviously looking to wear him down.
Summers misses with a straight left. Land takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Summers missing with a left hand there. Land was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Land takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Summers throws a body shot but no joy. Land is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Land - that will leave a mark!
Land wants to clinch. Land lunges at Summers with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Summers's hand. Land throws a sloppy head kick and Summers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Land throws a low kick but Summers moves out of range easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Land connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Land lands a head kick!
Land with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
That's one minute gone in the round. Summers swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Land counters with a nice leg kick. Summers looks to land a right hand but Land moved out of range. Summers slips under a jab from Land. Land moves into the clinch. Land gets control of Summers's arms and successfully pulls guard. Land will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Land throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Land escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Summers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Summers is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Land has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Summers is looking to defend but Land has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Summers! Land pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Summers taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Zee Land! Zee Land decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
