PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Issac Vernon (ranked 1297 p4p, 2910 weight class) and Keith Seng (ranked 152 p4p, 320 weight class). Keith Seng will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Issac Vernon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Keith Seng!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seng takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Seng connects with a jab.

Vernon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Seng is trying to defend but Vernon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Seng is refusing to be controlled, as Vernon sits in half guard.
Seng is controlling Vernon's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Seng manages to get to full guard.
Seng looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Seng is looking to stand up but Vernon isn't so interested in that idea.
Seng keeping moving, preventing Vernon from controlling successfully.

Vernon throws a strike but Seng rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Seng is pulling down on Vernon's head to control his posture.

Vernon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Seng pushes Vernon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Vernon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Seng tries to buck Vernon off but Vernon is having none of it.
Vernon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Seng keeps working.
Seng takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Seng wants to get back to his feet.
Seng stops Vernon from passing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vernon is looking to take a break and control but Seng is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vernon connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Seng some visible discomfort.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vernon prevents Seng from escaping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Seng tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vernon throws a body punch but Seng moves out of range.
Vernon looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A left lands for Vernon.
Seng throws a hook to the side of Vernon's head but Vernon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Vernon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Seng.

and Vernon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Seng thinking.

enabling Vernon to counter with a crisp jab.

Vernon throws a sloppy head kick and Seng moves out of range easily.
Vernon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Seng moves away.
A punch lands to the side of Vernon 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Vernon is looking to wear down Seng with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

A decent looking cross lands there for Seng.
Vernon fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
The fighters circling - Seng throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Vernon changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Horrible takedown attempt by Vernon or perhaps it was just good defense by Seng, which made it look bad.
Seng connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vernon's hands.
Seng throws a hook but Vernon blocks it.
A little feinted left hand from Vernon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Seng throws a shot from downtown. Vernon moves away and avoids it.
Vernon lands with an uppercut that bounces Seng off the cage and back into range.

Seng lands a big head kick that sends Vernon tumbling to the mat! Seng takes a step backwards and waves Vernon back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Vernon is rocked!

It looks like Issac Vernon has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Seng misses with an uppercut
and Vernon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Vernon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Seng stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Seng checks the leg kick.
Vernon misses with a looping left.
Seng looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Seng jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A good leg kick by Seng.
Seng throws a head kick but Vernon moves out of range.
Vernon was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Vernon looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Seng wants to get back to his feet but Vernon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Vernon wants to control from the top but Seng keeps moving.

Vernon is looking to work some ground and pound but Seng has wrist control.
Seng keeping full guard, as Vernon tries to pass.
Vernon throws an elbow that misses. Seng uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vernon's guard. Nice move by Seng!

Vernon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Seng is one step ahead there.
Seng sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Seng has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vernon is proving hard to escape from.
Issac Vernon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Seng wanted to stand there but Vernon had control of the position.

Keith Seng showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Vernon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Seng was well out of range. Poor timing from Vernon.
Vernon backing away here, and Seng unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Seng throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vernon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Vernon stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Seng throws the left hand but Vernon avoids the punch easily.
Vernon with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Seng blocks a jab.
Seng rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Vernon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Seng wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Vernon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Seng counters with a stiff right hand.
Vernon on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Seng. Seng obviously looking to wear him down.

Vernon misses with a looping left.
Seng shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Vernon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Seng moves away.
A head kick by Seng misses
and Vernon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Issac Vernon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Seng feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Vernons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Vernon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Seng sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Vernon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Seng as he avoids it easily.
Seng scores with a jab to the head.
Vernon misses with a right hand
letting Seng counter with a right hand.
Oh Vernon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Vernon misses with a double jab.
Vernon seems to have got his legs back now.
Vernon keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Seng circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Vernon to the canvas! Vernon doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Seng keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Keith Seng!
