The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes walks into a left hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Holmes.
Martin scores with a nice head shot.
Holmes dives in for a single leg takedown but Martin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Holmes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Martin makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Marvin Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Holmes.
Nice sprawl there from Martin as Holmes shoots in.
Martin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Martin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holmes shoots and misses
and Martin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Martin lands a body shot.
Holmes looks winded!
Holmes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Martin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Holmes somewhat.
Jon Holmes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Martin jabs at Holmes's body.
Holmes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Martin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Martin lands a body shot.

Oooooh!!! Martin has knocked Holmes down with a huge combo! Martin steps away and waves a wobbly Holmes back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Jon Holmes has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Martin thuds a left hand into Holmes's body.

Martin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Martin lands with a short shot to the head.
Holmes takes a shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Martin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Martin pushes Holmes back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Martin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Martin lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Martin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marvin Martin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice shot lands for Martin.
Martin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Martin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Holmes defends it nicely.
Holmes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Martin lands a big right hook! Holmes looks hurt but is still standing! Martin lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Holmes falls down and Martin dives in with a huge hammer fist! Holmes's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Martin runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
