The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcquarrie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shain's waist but Shain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcquarrie off to one side.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Shain.
Mcquarrie keeps the fight on the outside.
Some bone on bone action there as Mcquarrie checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Mcquarrie tries to counter with a clinch but Shain shakes him off and moves away.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Mcquarrie is looking for the choke from the back position but Shain is controlling his hands well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mcquarrie throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Mcquarrie has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Shain's body.
Mcquarrie somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Mcquarrie keeps control of the position as Shain tries to break free.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Shain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shain shoots in but Mcquarrie avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mcquarrie wants to counter the offense by Shain and move into the clinch position.
Shain tries to bum rush Mcquarrie with a series of wild strikes but Mcquarrie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Shain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mcquarrie is fending him off so far but Shain persists. Nope, Mcquarrie circles away and we're back to standing.
Shain shoots in looking for a takedown but Mcquarrie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shain's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shain.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to J J Shain.
