Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jerome (ranked 2820 p4p, 2811 weight class) and Wesley Shutes (ranked 365 p4p, 363 weight class). Wesley Shutes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jack Jerome's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Wesley Shutes!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shutes throws the left hand but Jerome avoids the punch easily.
Jerome feinted with a counter takedown.
Shutes throws a leg kick
so Jerome counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jerome stands and throws Shutes's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jerome tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jerome has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Shutes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jerome wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Shutes told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Shutes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jerome haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We've been hearing good reports from Jerome's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
