Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Lewis (ranked 2268 p4p, 2975 weight class) and Kasey McRobbie (ranked 299 p4p, 389 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kasey McRobbie was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Derrick Lewis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Kasey McRobbie! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McRobbie misses with a combination
and McRobbie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McRobbie keeps the fight on the outside. McRobbie throws the left hand but Lewis avoids the punch easily. McRobbie darts in and clinches Lewis up against the cage. Lewis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lewis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McRobbie swings away with a leg kick that misses. McRobbie closes the distance and pushes Lewis back into the cage. Lewis has McRobbie pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McRobbie manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Lewis wants to stall.

I was talking to Lewis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

A lazy body kick from Lewis and McRobbie counters with a nice double leg into half guard. McRobbie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McRobbie in side control, throwing shots but Lewis defends. McRobbie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. McRobbie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lewis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. McRobbie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lewis has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McRobbie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lewis, who protects the arm well. McRobbie goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lewis has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for McRobbie but great work by Lewis. McRobbie can't do much from the bottom here. Kasey McRobbie dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. McRobbie swings widly with a right hand
and Lewis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Kasey McRobbie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lewis fails to land the takedown. Lewis fails with an attempt to clinch.
McRobbie has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nice takedown defense from McRobbie. No joy for Lewis on that attempt. Lewis takes a shot right to the bread basket. Lewis doesn't manage to clinch there - McRobbie circles away.

McRobbie tries to avoid it but Lewis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McRobbie to the ground. McRobbie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derrick Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fighters circling - McRobbie throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Derrick Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. McRobbie throws out a loose jab but Lewis uses good head movement to avoid it. McRobbie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lewis manages to avoid it. McRobbie misses with a straight right. Lewis closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

This has been an exciting period of action! McRobbie loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. McRobbie controls from within his opponent's guard. Kasey McRobbie has got the better of the ground game so far. Lewis tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McRobbie forces his way into half guard. McRobbie working over Lewis with some ground and pound. Lewis looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. McRobbie is working for a submission of some sort.
Lewis is refusing to be controlled, as McRobbie sits in half guard. Lewis moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lewis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McRobbie defends well. Lewis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kasey McRobbie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Derrick Lewis's cut. That's time! Lewis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Lewis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McRobbie. McRobbie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Some bone on bone action there as McRobbie checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. McRobbie is looking to chop away at Lewis's legs. McRobbie throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lewis sees it coming and avoids it easily. Lewis moves into range and clinches up with McRobbie. Lewis tries for a takedown but McRobbie manages to get underhooks.

Lewis closes this distance looking for a takedown but McRobbie circles away. Lewis tries to clinch but McRobbie is having none of it. McRobbie was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Lewis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

Lewis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McRobbie clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McRobbie breaks Lewis's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McRobbie throws a big right hand that misses. Lewis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

McRobbie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lewis dives on top into guard.
Our spies down at at Shut Up & Train! {$1000} inform us that McRobbie has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Lewis passes McRobbie's left leg - he's now in half guard. McRobbie is looking for a sweep. Lewis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Derrick Lewis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lewis thows a huge punch but McRobbie dodges it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Derrick Lewis. I think McRobbie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
