Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Okafor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guido Carosella!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okafor walks into a jab.
Carosella swings away with a body shot that misses
and Okafor counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Guido Carosella has been cut.
Carosella moves out of range as Okafor strikes.
Carosella takes a swing at Okafor's ribcage but misses.
Carosella scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Okafor doesn't seem bothered though.
Okafor lands a jab to the head.
Okafor with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Okafor jabs Carosella to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Carosella looks winded!
Carosella takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Okafor digs a good body shot into Carosella's ribs.
Okafor thuds a left hand into Carosella's body.
Carosella on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Okafor lands a big uppercut and Carosella crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Carosella looks OK. Okafor waves Carosella back to his feet!
Carosella is rocked!
Okafor lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Carosella up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Okafor from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Carosella's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Okafor!
During a confident post fight interview, John Okafor thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
