Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alvin York! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! York blocks a low kick nicely. The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though. York fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but York persists and gets the takedown into half guard. York is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time York. York is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones sees it coming and defends easily. York content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. York really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. York looks to score some points with some ground and pound. York prevents Jones from standing back up.
York tries to pass to full mount but Jones defends it. Jones looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jones plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! York checks a leg kick. Some bone on bone action there as York checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. York shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. York slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Let's hope that York has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst York is controlling him. York not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Jones wants to stand up but York is controlling him. York controls from within his opponent's guard. York stops Jones from standing up. York gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting. Jones throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. York darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage. York drags the fight down to the ground.

York has a closed guard, preventing Jones from standing up. Jones is breathing heavily. York wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if York can do anything to dispel that myth.

York looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but York persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing. Jones tries to work over York's front leg with a kick but York checks it. Jones tries to bum rush York with a series of wild strikes but York uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jones is looking to slow York down with leg kicks. York moves out of range of the leg kick from Jones. York changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but York manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones lands with a thumping leg kick.
York shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jones's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alvin York dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick. York forces Jones back against the cage and clinches. York is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jones gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Jones is working for takedown but York is calmly controlling the position for now. York has picked Jones up - he's going for a ride! York dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. York controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. York's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with York in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
York checks a leg kick. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and York has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from York and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Jones lands a jab-cross combination. York changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but York manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones misses with a looping left. York shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. York is going olschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off. York controlling the position easily from mount. York scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. York working for a submission but Jones is keeping him at bay. York working for a guillotine from mount but Jones is in no mood to give up. Jones is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
York takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Jones tries to buck York off but he can't manage it. York content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

York thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. York has knee on belly and moves into mount. York swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jones is now in York's guard. A big mistake from York there, giving up the dominant position! York utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. York pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage. Jones wants to stand but York is controlling his posture from full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! York is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. York is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Paul Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

York shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones throws a lazy head kick and York counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Still in half guard, York seems content to control. York lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

York is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for York to get the leverage. York is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones sees it coming and defends easily. York controlling the action here. Jones is trying to stand back up but York is controlling him
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. York with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Alvin York is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Paul Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvin York. Jones misses with a leg kick and York counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by York. York is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jones can't fight it off and eventually York manages to take the fight to the floor. Jones looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. York must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jones wants to stand and escape but York is having none of it. York is stalling in the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Alvin York comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got York winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
