Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vern Vurris (ranked 5009 p4p, 5010 weight class) and Redd Lentz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vurris throws a sloppy head kick and Lentz moves out of range easily.
Lentz doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Lentz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Vurris sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lentz has closed the distance and engaged Vurris in a clinch.

Vurris wants to get up but he can't break Lentz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lentz wants to sweep but no luck.

and Vurris counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lentz won't be happy with that.

Vurris decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lentz to his feet.

Vurris shoots in and bounces Lentz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Vurris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lentz's waist but Lentz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vurris off to one side.

Well Vurris has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
