Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kokkoro Kirin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kirk Patrick!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirin throws a body punch but Patrick moves out of range.
Patrick with a lazy takedown attempt
and Kirin counters with a nice body shot.
Patrick closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Kirin prevents Patrick from moving into mount.
Patrick controls the position from side control.
Kirin is looking to regain half guard here but Patrick keeps moving and retains side control.
Patrick in side control lands a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kirin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Kirin is trying to escape the position but Patrick is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Patrick creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kirin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Patrick throws an elbow but Kirin slips to the side and avoids it well.
Patrick passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Kirin!
Patrick breaks from Kirin's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kirin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Patrick on the ground.
You get the feeling that Kirin really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Kirin tries to hold on but Patrick pushes him away.
Patrick is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Patrick!
