The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donato goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Kai McLaren has been cut.
Horrible takedown attempt by McLaren or perhaps it was just good defense by Donato, which made it look bad.
Donato ducks under a wild hook from McLaren.

McLaren looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Donato with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Donato felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McLaren connects with a nice short shot to Donato's temple.

McLaren is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Donato is hurt! He's hurt bad - McLaren fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Donato from any more punishment! Congratulations to McLaren! Great finish!
