PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spaced Soza (ranked 5187 p4p, 25001 weight class) and Aaron Falmouth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Soza might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bitch,don't kill my vibe. Aaron Falmouth has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Spaced Soza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Falmouth!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Falmouth tries to close the distance and clinch but Soza swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Falmouth doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Soza holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Soza has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Falmouth uses from the top position.
Soza pulls Falmouth in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soza keeping moving, preventing Falmouth from controlling successfully.
Soza has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Falmouth won't allow Soza to sweep him here.

Soza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Soza is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Soza displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Falmouth.

and Soza moves into the clinch.
Spaced Soza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Falmouth.
Falmouth wants to break the clinch but can't.

Soza pulls guard.
Soza is pulling down on Falmouth's head. It's preventing any offense from Falmouth, at least for the moment.

Soza wants to get back to his feet but Falmouth is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Soza manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Soza has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Falmouth avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Soza manages to break the clinch.
Falmouth shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Soza as he avoids it easily.
Falmouth closes the distance and clinches up with Soza, looking for a takedown. Falmouth pushes Soza against the cage but Soza circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A combination from Falmouth does no damage.
Falmouth looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A right-left combo lands from Falmouth.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Falmouth with a lazy takedown attempt

and Soza moves into the clinch.
Falmouth wants to break free but Soza has control.
Falmouth wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Soza has him pressed against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Soza.

Soza breaks the clinch.
Falmouth looks for a takedown but Soza sprawls well.

Soza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Soza gets control of Falmouth's arms and successfully pulls guard. Soza will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Falmouth wants to pass the guard but Soza is keeping the position.

Soza has his feet on Falmouth's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Soza could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Falmouth.
Soza appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

You can see the frustration on Falmouth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Soza has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and Soza holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Falmouth wants to get back to striking at distance but Soza won't allow it.
Falmouth throws an elbow that misses.

Soza gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Falmouth.
Falmouth tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Falmouth tries to break the clinch but Soza is controlling the position.

Soza turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Soza manages to end up in side control.
Falmouth is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Soza asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Falmouth is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Soza decides to stand back up. Soza steps back and let's Falmouth get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Falmouth.
Falmouth fails in his attempt to clinch.
Soza tries to counter with a takedown but Falmouth is quick to defend against it.
Falmouth defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Soza.
Falmouth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soza tries to avoid it but Falmouth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soza to the ground. Soza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Falmouth tries to clinch up but Soza circles away and keeps his distance.
Soza half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Soza shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Falmouth manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Falmouth is breathing heavily.

Spaced Soza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Falmouth darts in looking for a takedown but Soza gets double underhooks and turns Falmouth into the cage.

Soza clinches up with Falmouth and pushes him back against the cage.
Falmouth fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Soza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Falmouth can do to turn this around?

Soza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Falmouth shoots in for a double leg but Soza sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Soza seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Soza stuffs the takedown.
Spaced Soza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Falmouth.

Falmouth manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Soza on his heels. He'll look to pass Soza's guard now, I'm sure.

Soza has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Falmouth is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Spaced Soza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Falmouth takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Falmouth misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Soza counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Soza is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Soza has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Soza stands up from Falmouth's guard - Soza perhaps looking for a knockout.
Falmouth shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soza pinned against the cage. Soza gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Soza stuffs the takedown attempt from Falmouth. Falmouth gets slowly back to his feet.

Soza closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Falmouth's guard.

and Soza counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
