Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beam (ranked 799 p4p, 6063 weight class) and Kenji Gōtarō (ranked 104 p4p, 634 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Beam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Gōtarō!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gōtarō looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Beam has taken the fight to the clinch.
Beam scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Gōtarō blocks a body shot from Beam.

Beam lands a right hand.
Beam blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Beam tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gōtarō just stands there and leans against the cage.

Gōtarō keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Beam ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gōtarō moves away.

Gōtarō thuds his right hand into Beam's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

It looks like Jim Beam has been cut.
Beam missing with a left hand there. Gōtarō was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Beam misses with a takedown attempt - Gōtarō sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gōtarō looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Beam. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Beam throws a nice looking combination but Gōtarō bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gōtarō has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Beam lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gōtarō checks a leg kick.

Gōtarō misses with a hook. Beam ducked under it nicely.
Beam fails in his attempt to clinch.
Beam throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A little jabbing left from Gōtarō on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Beam throws a jab but it's blocked by Gōtarō.
A punch lands to the side of Gōtarō 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Beam takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Beam has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gōtarō.

Beam gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gōtarō pushes Beam back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Come on Gōtarō - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Beam digs a right hand underneath Gōtarō's ribcage. Gōtarō let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Beam has Gōtarō pressed against the cage, preventing Gōtarō from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Beam is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gōtarō to keep the fight standing.

Gōtarō has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Beam keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Beam backing away here, and Gōtarō unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Gōtarō lands a nice hook to Beam's body. Beam takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Beam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gōtarō was well out of range. Poor timing from Beam.
Gōtarō doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Jim Beam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Beam dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gōtarō. That did some damage!
Beam bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gōtarō's head backwards.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gōtarō takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Beam is looking to clinch but Gōtarō is avoiding it.
Beam shoots for a takedown but Gōtarō saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Gōtarō cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gōtarō connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Beam fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gōtarō manages to avoid it.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Beam takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jim Beam will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Beam lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gōtarō's sensitive parts.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beam misses with a low kick as Gōtarō jumps back.
Beam with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gōtarō to score with a decent uppercut.

Beam is rocked!
Gōtarō lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Beam falls backwards - clearly groggy! Gōtarō dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
