Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jaryd Lund (ranked 24676 p4p, 6746 weight class) and Matthew Start (ranked 618 p4p, 593 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaryd Lund!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Start!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lund tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Start defends well and Lund ends up having to push Start into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Start feints the counter takedown.
Start stalling the fight.
Lund tries to pull guard but Start holds him up against the cage and eventually Lund drops back down to his feet.
Start effectively controlling the action here.
Start content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Lund looking for a takedown.

Lund takes a knee to the side of the body.
Lund is breathing heavily.
Lund gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Start.

Start pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Start slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lund is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Start controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Start postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Start showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Start stands and throws Lund's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lund might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lund is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Start pulls his head out easily.

Start working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Start is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lund has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lund wants to improve his position but Start is controlling well.
Start landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Start is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lund doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Start.
Start is trying to control the action in half guard but Lund is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Start looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Well, if Start is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Start is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Start can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lund is looking to escape.

Lund is trying desperately to improve position.

Start tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Start scoring with strikes but Lund is staying in there.
Start breaks from Lund's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Start swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Lund is now in Start's guard. A big mistake from Start there, giving up the dominant position!
Start wants to sweep but no luck.
Start trying to keep a closed guard but Lund is proving a slippery customer.
Start keeping moving, preventing Lund from controlling successfully.

Lund looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Start trying to control the position from guard on top but Lund is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lund has his foot on Start's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Start works his way back into a safe position though.
Start sitting in guard here, content to control.
Start's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Start with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Start seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Start keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lund's head.
Start has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Start trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Matthew Start showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Start counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Lund.
Lund blocks a jab.
Lund tries to score a power double leg takedown but Start sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lund somewhat.
We've been informed that Start has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Start connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lund momentarily.

Start feints and as Lund raises his hands in defense, Start changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Matthew Start is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Start is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lund working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Start doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Start manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jaryd Lund has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Matthew Start comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Start has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Matthew Start decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
Jaryd Lund spoke after the fight, saying 'Just wasn't my day today, Gunna work hard and get back in the Octagon as soon as possible.'.
