Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Harry Winks (ranked 2020 p4p, 1439 weight class) and Patrick River (ranked 260 p4p, 187 weight class). River has chosen Pantera - Walk as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick River!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Winks.
Winks lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
River moves away from the strike by Winks.
River lands a slapping body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Winks is defended easily by River.
Crunch! Winks slams his shin into River's torso.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Winks crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from River - the referee stops the clock and Winks gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says River. Winks manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been informed that River has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

A nice side step and River releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Winks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. River manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Winks tries to score a power double leg takedown but River sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Winks somewhat.

River ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
