Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hieu Vo (ranked 6206 p4p, 6430 weight class) and Brady Kurtz (ranked 555 p4p, 574 weight class). Brady Kurtz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hieu Vo ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brady Kurtz! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Vo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Vo blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Vo stalls. Vo pressing his opponent against the cage. Vo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kurtz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vo tries to pull guard but Kurtz holds him up against the cage and eventually Vo drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hieu Vo . That's going to take a lot out of him. Kurtz is pressed up against the cage. Vo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kurtz down to the mat. Kurtz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Vo has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kurtz fails in his attempt to clinch. Kurtz is looking to clinch but Vo is avoiding it.
Vo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kurtz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Vo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kurtz circles away. Kurtz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vo . No luck with that takedown attempt from Vo . Vo dives in for a single leg takedown but Kurtz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kurtz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kurtz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Kurtz throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy. Kurtz controlling the position. Vo preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vo won't allow Kurtz to get back to his feet. Vo tries to stand but Kurtz is controlling from the bottom. Kurtz keeping moving, preventing Vo from controlling successfully. Kurtz wants to stand but Vo is controlling the position. Kurtz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vo manages to get himself to full guard.
Vo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kurtz dives into side control.
Kurtz has hold of Vo 's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Vo tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kurtz cranks the arm and Vo screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Vo , who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Brady Kurtz!
