PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Uniesky Santaban (ranked 1377 p4p, 2241 weight class) and Conor OMalley (ranked 197 p4p, 300 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Uniesky Santaban!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Conor OMalley!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
OMalley shoots in but Santaban avoids the takedown attempt easily.
OMalley ducks right into an uppercut from Santaban.
OMalley dives in and grabs Santaban's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santaban pushes down on OMalley's head and hops out.
Santaban appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
OMalley shoots in and drives through. Santaban sprawls well.
Uniesky Santaban has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conor OMalley.
OMalley darts in looking for a takedown but Santaban gets double underhooks and turns OMalley into the cage.
Santaban swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
OMalley fails to land the takedown.
It looked like Santaban wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Santaban counters with a right hand that sends OMalley tumbling to the canvas! Can Santaban finish him? He dives into OMalley's guard looking to do just that!
This has been an exciting period of action!
OMalley is pulling down on Santaban's head. It's preventing any offense from Santaban, at least for the moment.
OMalley keeping full guard, as Santaban tries to pass.

OMalley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Santaban sitting in guard, not really doing much.
OMalley looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Santaban is looking to stand up but OMalley won't let him.
Santaban slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
OMalley wants to sweep here but Santaban controlling him for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Santaban misses with a double jab

and OMalley counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
OMalley trying to pass the guard but Santaban defending well.

OMalley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santaban is just riding it out for now. OMalley eventually gives up the hold.
Santaban wants to get back to full guard.

Santaban is defending against the submission attempts here by OMalley.
Santaban is looking to improve his position.

OMalley prevents Santaban from standing back up.

OMalley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Santaban tries to kick OMalley off but OMalley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
OMalley is controlling the pace.
Santaban is trying to get back to full guard.
OMalley is stalling here. Santaban is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! OMalley seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Santaban has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Santaban happy to just control the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
You can see the frustration on OMalley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Uniesky Santaban dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

OMalley misses with a takedown
and Santaban makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
OMalley fails to land the takedown.
Santaban looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
OMalley closes the distance and clinches up with Santaban, looking for a takedown. OMalley pushes Santaban against the cage but Santaban circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Uniesky Santaban has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conor OMalley.
Santaban connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt OMalley covering up! Santaban comes in with a big uppercut and OMalley goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Uniesky Santaban!
Uniesky Santaban decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
