Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Costa (ranked 566 p4p, 309 weight class) and Roland Weudke (ranked 88 p4p, 42 weight class). Roland Weudke has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roland Weudke! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Costa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Costa is trying to work for a kimura but Weudke is defending well.
Costa has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Costa trying to pass the guard but Weudke defending well. Costa is just content to waste time from the top position. Weudke takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Costa looking to sit in guard and control but Weudke gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Costa is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Costa sitting in guard, not really doing much. Costa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Weudke wants to sweep but no luck. Weudke keeping moving, preventing Costa from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Costa forces his way into half guard. Weudke tries to roll over but Costa keeps him under control. Costa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Costa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa prevents Weudke from improving his position. Weudke is looking to control Costa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Weudke avoid being mounted? Costa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Costa wants to pass the guard but Weudke is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Weudke is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Costa scores with a couple of nice shots. Costa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Weudke keeps working. Weudke wants to get back to full guard. Weudke is holding on to half guard well.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Weudke slaps away a takedown attempt from Costa, before circling back to the center of the mat. As Costa backs off Weudke throws a huge counter combo but Costa manages to avoid it all. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Costa shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Weudke is trying to defend but Costa finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Costa is stalling here. Weudke is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Costa seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Weudke has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Santiago Costa dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Weudke avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Weudke looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Weudke stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Weudke wants it to stay on the feet. A left and a right from Weudke both land. Nice combination. Costa lands an overhand right. Costa moves into range and clinches up with Weudke. Costa is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Weudke pulls him back up using the underhooks. Weudke prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Costa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Costa tries to throw a body punch but Weudke avoids it by throwing Costa back against the cage. Weudke tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Costa avoids it. Costa drags the fight down to the ground.
Santiago Costa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Costa lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Weudke is trying to keep Costa in close.
Weudke manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Costa manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weudke not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Weudke is continuing to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Costa wants to sweep here but Weudke controlling him for the moment. Costa can't keep his opponent in guard - Weudke advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Weudke with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Weudke tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Costa. Weudke content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Costa controlling the position for now. Costa trying to hold on to Weudke's head to control him but Weudke postures up.
Costa tries to get to full guard but Weudke has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa is trying to maintain the position but Weudke is very close to passing his half guard. Costa manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Weudke preventing the sweep. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Costa wants to control but Weudke passes easily into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Weudke in particular looking to stall.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Costa shoots in but no luck this time. Weudke takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Weudke throws a jab when Costa was well out of range. Weudke looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Costa slips a straight right by Weudke. Costa tries to clinch but Weudke moves away and Weudke counters with a lovely straight right hand! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Roland Weudke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Costa fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Costa closes the distance looking to clinch and Weudke counters with a straight right hand. Costa is looking to clinch. Costa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Weudke let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Costa fails with the takedown. Costa throws an off balance right hand
letting Weudke counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Weudke displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Costa throws out the jab. Weudke lunges at Costa with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Costa's hand. Costa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Weudke quickly recovers to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Costa is thwarting Weudke's attempts to control the position. Weudke is positioning himself well to prevent Costa advancing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa tries to pass the half guard into mount. Weudke knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Costa is trying to control the action in half guard but Weudke is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Weudke moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Weudke keeping full guard, as Costa tries to pass. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Weudke is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Weudke won't allow Costa to sweep him here. Weudke pushing down on Costa's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Weudke wants to free his trapped foot but Costa is holding on for dear life with his legs. Weudke is taking a breather. Costa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Costa wants to control but Weudke passes into side.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa tries to improve position but can't. Costa seems a little lost for a moment, as Weudke dominates the positioning. Costa can't do much from the bottom here. Costa is looking for a sweep. Costa looks to move to half guard but instead Weudke has passed into mount! Damn!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Costa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Weudke controlling his opponent. Costa is looking to get to half guard. Costa gets back to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Costa slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Costa lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Roland Weudke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Weudke has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
