Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Belkin!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West connects with the punch.
Belkin sizes up West with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.


It looks like Bill West has been cut.

West drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

West tries for a kimura but Belkin is defending well.

West decides to stand back up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

so West counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
West's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Belkin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. West manages to get himself to full guard.
Belkin wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as West holds on and takes a little breather.
West wants to stand and escape but Belkin is having none of it.

Belkin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed West's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and West counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Belkin's guard now.
Bill West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Belkin.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
West is stalling in the full guard.

West decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Belkin, up you get!

Belkin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Belkin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

West wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

West has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Belkin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Belkin has his takedown stuffed

and West counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by West.

West gets to his feet - Belkin follows without any prompting.
Belkin tries to clinch up.
Belkin misses with a takedown attempt - West sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

West closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Belkin to the mat! Belkin manages to get full guard.
Belkin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as West controls the pace.
West won't allow Belkin to sweep him here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Bill West overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

West is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Belkin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Belkin wants to hold on but West pushes him away.
West controlling from the full mount.
Belkin is in all sorts of trouble here.
West takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

West landing strikes from the mount and Belkin is in trouble!
West looking to control but Belkin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Bill West just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Belkin doesn't succeed with the takedown

and West counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by West.
West wants to control from the top but Belkin keeps moving.
Bill West is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

West throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Belkin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Belkin looking to hit a scissor sweep but West is one step ahead there.
West seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Belkin controls West momentarily but West frees himself.
Ben Belkin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bill West showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for West, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
