PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Colton Jacobs (ranked 24802 p4p, 6088 weight class) and Mason Clinton (ranked 468 p4p, 428 weight class). Jacobs comes to the cage accompanied by Bottoms up. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Colton Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mason Clinton!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clinton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jacobs tries to avoid it but Clinton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jacobs to the ground. Jacobs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Jacobs counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Clinton!
Clinton is looking to regain half guard here but Jacobs keeps moving and retains side control.

The strikes coming from Jacobs are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jacobs is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Clinton's shoulder. That is not cool.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Clinton shoots for a double leg takedown but Jacobs sprawls well. He's pushed Clinton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Colton Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Clinton.

Jacobs wants to free his trapped foot but Clinton is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jacobs closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Clinton's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Clinton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jacobs counters by clinching up.
Clinton can't break the clinch.
Clinton has Jacobs pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jacobs manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Clinton is trying to pull guard but Jacobs has him pressed against the cage.

Jacobs postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jacobs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Clinton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jacobs as he jumps to the side.

Clinton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jacobs is working away from the top position though.

Clinton wants to sweep but Jacobs has passed to side control!

Jacobs shoots in and drives through. Clinton sprawls well.
Colton Jacobs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Clinton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Jacobs counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Jacobs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Clinton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jacobs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jacobs manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
