Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy Gavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rafael Paz!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paz misses with a takedown attempt - Gavin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tommy Gavin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gavin misses the shot to the body.
Paz shoots in but no luck this time.
Gavin throws a head kick that half lands.
Paz takes a kick to the side of the head.
Gavin swings for the body but Paz moves out of range.
Paz shoots in for a takedown but Gavin shows good takedown defense.
Tommy Gavin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Paz.
Gavin stuffs the takedown.
Gavin throws a head kick that misses.
Gavin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Paz's head.
Paz blocks a head kick by Gavin.
Paz with the counter takedown but Gavin avoids it easily.
Paz takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick by Gavin misses
and Paz counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Paz drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Paz seems to have locked his on tight now - Gavin screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Paz, as he picks up the win!
