Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 3634 p4p, 3273 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 386 p4p, 358 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Mike Smith enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Diaz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz misses the shot to the body.
Smith swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Diaz, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Diaz against the cage but Diaz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Diaz is looking for a counter combo.
Diaz comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Diaz connects with a body shot.
Diaz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diaz lands with a straight right. Smith didn't see that one coming.
Diaz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard.

Diaz seems keen to control Smith's posture.
Diaz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Diaz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Smith manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diaz on his heels. He'll look to pass Diaz's guard now, I'm sure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oh but Diaz is tightening it up a little... Smith has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Smith reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Smith taps out! Nice BJJ there by Diaz!
