And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Alvarez steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Hawk.
Alvarez moves out of range of the leg kick from Hawk.
Hawk throws a big shot that misses.

Alvarez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Alvarez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hawk is looking to reverse the position.
Hawk is working to avoid the ground and pound but Alvarez connects with a decent elbow.

Alvarez tries for a kimura but Hawk is defending well.
Alvarez lands some shots froms side control.

Hawk tries to bench press Alvarez off him but Alvarez keeps the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alvarez cracks Hawk with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Alvarez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Alvarez takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch but Hawk swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alvarez closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Alvarez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Alvarez ducks under a wild hook from Hawk.

Alvarez has Hawk up against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hawk avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Alvarez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Alvarez moves in looking to clinch but Hawk pushes him off.

Alvarez closes the distance and pushes Hawk back into the cage.

Alvarez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alvarez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hawk wants to free his trapped foot but Alvarez is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hawk seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alvarez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Alvarez is trying to maintain the position but Hawk is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hawk misses with a body kick.
A left lands for Hawk.
A big right from Hawk misses.
Alvarez is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Hawk swats away the attempt to clinch by Alvarez.
Hawk is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hawk swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ethan Hawk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hawk dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Alvarez scores with a nice strike.
Alvarez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hawk.
Hawk throws out a loose jab but Alvarez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hawk throws a sloppy head kick and Alvarez moves out of range easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alvarez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawk circles away quickly and effectively.

and Alvarez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hawk lands with a nice body punch.
Alvarez looks to land a right hand but Hawk moved out of range.
Hawk keeps the fight on the outside.
Hawk throws a good cross that connects.
Alvarez blocks a jab.
Hawk buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hawk throws a body punch but Alvarez moves out of range.
Alvarez has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hawk finds it's way round the side to connect with Alvarez's head.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hawk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hawk gets underhooks to prevent Alvarez's takedown attempt.
Alvarez tries to pull guard but Hawk forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Alvarez has Hawk pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Alvarez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hawk tumbling to the mat - Alvarez dives into Hawk's guard.
Alvarez wants to control from the top but Hawk keeps moving.
Owen Alvarez has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hawk looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Alvarez is defending well. Hawk quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Alvarez has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hawk celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
