PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dom Dober (ranked 5328 p4p, 5271 weight class) and Lump Sum (ranked 554 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dom Dober!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lump Sum!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dober tries to close the distance and clinch but Sum swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sum looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Sum fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dober sprawls well initially but Sum persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dober manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sum keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Sum has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dober uses from the top position.
Sum really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dober. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dober stands up from Sum's guard - Dober perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sum misses with a low kick as Dober jumps back.
Dober shoots in for a double leg but Sum sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dober looks for a takedown but Sum sprawls well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sum dives in and scores a takedown into Dober's guard.
Dober will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sum postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dober is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dober is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Sum looks winded!
Well, if Dober is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Dober is trying to work for a kimura but Sum is defending well.
Sum is trying to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dober trying to control from half guard but Sum is working away.
Dober blocks the strikes from Sum.
Sum is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Sum taking some punishment here, with Dober in his half guard.

Dober decides to stand up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dober is defended easily by Sum.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dom Dober. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dober shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sum pinned against the cage. Sum gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dober closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sum wants to break free but Dober has control.
Dober is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sum gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sum is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dober to keep the fight standing.
Dober has Sum pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sum manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dober breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dober scores with a head kick.
Dober dives in and grabs Sum's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sum pushes down on Dober's head and hops out.

Sum shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dober manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sum must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dober wants to sweep here but Sum controlling him for the moment.
Sum is looking to pass into half guard but Dober pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Dober is in guard.

Dober postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Sum keeping moving, preventing Dober from controlling successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dom Dober dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sum misses with a takedown

and Dober counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sum on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Dober is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sum can do to turn this around?
Dober is trying to control the action in half guard but Sum is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Dober works his way into side control.
Sum looking for a sweep but Dober has passed into full mount! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dober trying to control but Sum is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sum can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sum is breathing heavily.

Dober is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sum can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Dober trying to control but Sum is having none of it.
Dober lands a big shot there that rocks Sum but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Dober can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sum is looking to escape.
Dober has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dober raining down hammerfists from mount.

Dober with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Dober is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sum can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Dober tries to control but Sum wriggling away.

BOOM! Dober connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Dober working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sum turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Dober off and cradles Sum's limp body as Dober celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Dom Dober!
