PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Foster (ranked 24047 p4p, 3707 weight class) and Nikita Zutis (ranked 606 p4p, 382 weight class). Foster comes to the cage accompanied by Nuclear Power Trio - A Clear and Present Rager. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nikita Zutis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zutis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Foster avoids it really well and circles away.
Zutis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Foster is fending him off so far but Zutis persists. Nope, Foster circles away and we're back to standing.
Foster looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Zutis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Zutis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Foster is looking for a sweep.
Zutis wants to control but Foster is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foster is trying to get back to his feet.

Zutis fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Foster is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Zutis off and has taken his back!
Foster trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zutis is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Foster off. It looks like it's working - Foster slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Zutis displaying calm under pressure there.
Zutis misses with a takedown attempt - Foster sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Zutis shoots in for a takedown but Foster shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The fighters circle momentarily. Foster darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Foster lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zutis circles away quickly and effectively.

Zutis wants to take the fight to the mat but Foster manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Foster tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Zutis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Foster changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Zutis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Zutis tries to keep at a distance but Foster has taken the fight into the clinch.
Foster could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Zutis avoids the elbow strike from Foster, against the cage.

Foster ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Foster no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Foster is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Zutis tries to stand but Foster is controlling from the bottom.
Foster knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zutis on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Zutis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Foster swats away the attempt to clinch by Zutis.
Zutis shoots in for a double leg but Foster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Foster leaves Zutis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Zutis shoots in looking for a takedown. Foster tries to sprawl out of it but Zutis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Foster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Foster throws a big counter combination but Zutis scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Zutis is looking to clinch.
Zutis throws a nice looking combination but Foster bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Zutis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zutis somewhat.
Zutis is breathing heavily.
Zutis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Foster pinned against the cage. Foster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nikita Zutis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Zutis enables Foster to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Zutis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zutis. Foster does a little dance to reset his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zutis shoots for a double leg takedown but Foster sprawls well. He's pushed Zutis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Zutis darts in looking for a takedown but Foster gets double underhooks and turns Zutis into the cage.
Zutis has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Zutis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Foster swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Foster closes the distance and pushes Zutis back into the cage.
Foster tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zutis just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nikita Zutis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Charles Foster is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Zutis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Foster to score an easy takedown into full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Nikita Zutis.
I think Foster has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
