Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Octavio Lopez (ranked 4470 p4p, 2537 weight class) and Paulo Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 257 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Octavio Lopez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Octavio Lopez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Octavio Lopez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paulo Lima! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lima throws a jab but it's blocked by Lopez. Lopez throws a lazy head kick and Lima counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Lopez keeping moving, preventing Lima from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lopez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lima drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lima jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lima drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lopez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lopez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lopez! The ground and pound from Lopez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lima tries to buck Lopez off but Lopez is having none of it. Lima wants to control but Lopez postures up. Lima is trying to improve his position. Lima manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lopez's best efforts. Lima wants to get back to full guard. Lima wants to control but Lopez is keeping busy.

Lima tries to hold on but Lopez postures up. Lima bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Lopez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lopez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lima on the ground. Lima trying to control the position from guard on top but Lopez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lopez pulls Lima in close to prevent any damage. Lopez keeping moving, preventing Lima from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lima might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lopez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Lima seems to have locked his on tight now - Lopez screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Lima, as he picks up the win!
