Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Costa (ranked 844 p4p, 428 weight class) and Donald Trumpet (ranked 134 p4p, 63 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donald Trumpet!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Costa clinches with his opponent.
Costa tries to score a body lock takedown but Trumpet shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Trumpet is trying to force a seperation but Costa has the dominant position.
Trumpet's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Costa blocks a body shot from Trumpet.
Trumpet tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Costa's elbow.

Trumpet breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Costa. Trumpet does a little dance to reset his feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Trumpet darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Costa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Trumpet scores with a nice strike.
Santiago Costa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Costa throws a body shot but no joy.
Costa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trumpet sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Costa somewhat.
Trumpet is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trumpet pushes Costa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Costa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Costa swings around for an armbar but Trumpet sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Costa's guard.

Trumpet has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Costa is proving hard to escape from.
Trumpet is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Trumpet gets to his feet. Costa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Horrible takedown attempt by Costa or perhaps it was just good defense by Trumpet, which made it look bad.
No joy there for Costa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

We've been hearing good reports from Costa's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Costa feints and as Trumpet raises his hands in defense, Costa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Trumpet seems keen to control Costa's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trumpet wants to hit a sweep here but Costa passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Trumpet there!
Costa prevents Trumpet from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Costa wants to control the pace but Trumpet is squirming around nicely.

Costa throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Trumpet has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Costa tries to clinch but Trumpet is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Trumpet dips to his left and cracks Costa with an uppercut!
Trumpet looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Trumpet lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Trumpet manages to escape and get back to his feet!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Trumpet throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That kick from Trumpet tenderised Costa's leg. Costa is trying to keep his angry face on.

and Trumpet counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Costa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Trumpet sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Trumpet throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Trumpet connects with a leg kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Trumpet feints a jab promting Costa to slip. Trumpet then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Costa slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Costa is rocked!
and Trumpet counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Costa! He's just covering up as Trumpet starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Donald Trumpet!
After the fight, Donald Trumpet was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
