Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chito Jacare Salazar ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Two Pistols! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar closes the distance and clinches up with Pistols, looking for a takedown. Salazar pushes Pistols against the cage but Pistols circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Salazar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pistols is fending him off so far but Salazar persists. Nope, Pistols circles away and we're back to standing. It seemed like Pistols was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Salazar shoots in for a double leg but Pistols sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chito Jacare Salazar . That's going to take a lot out of him. Salazar dives in and grabs Pistols's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pistols pushes down on Salazar 's head and hops out. Salazar fails with a takedown attempt from distance. No luck for Salazar with that takedown attempt. Pistols tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Salazar is breathing heavily. Salazar fails with a takedown attempt. Pistols changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Pistols gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Salazar to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pistols working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Salazar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Salazar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Pistols is trying to hold Salazar in close to prevent damage but Salazar has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar winds up and cracks Pistols with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Salazar is looking for a kimura but Pistols is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Salazar to get the leverage. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Salazar lands a nice short elbow. Salazar prevents Pistols from improving his position. Salazar with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Salazar is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Pistols is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
