PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Murat (ranked 24700 p4p, 3641 weight class) and Bobby Pyne (ranked 711 p4p, 453 weight class). Pyne is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Shine. Bobby Pyne will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Charles Murat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Pyne!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murat uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pyne.
Pyne misses with an uppercut. Murat saw that one coming.
An attempted straight right counter from Murat misses the target.
Pyne ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Murat moves away.
Pyne throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murat sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pyne fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Murat is out of range.
Pyne takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Murat moves out of range of the leg kick from Pyne.
A big right from Pyne misses.
Murat appears to be looking for a big counter.
Pyne misses with an uppercut. Murat saw that one coming.
Pyne throws a lazy uppercut
and Murat cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pyne connects with a good right hand that stumbles Murat. Murat circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Pyne throws a poor cross that misses
and Murat counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pyne rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Murat counters with a left to the body.

Murat uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pyne.
Murat moves out of range as Pyne throws a body kick.
Pyne throws a leg kick
and Murat counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bobby Pyne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Murat counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Pyne!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pyne dodges the ground and pound from Murat.
Murat in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Murat creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pyne sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Murat is working Pyne over with some ground and pound from side control.
Murat tries to score with some ground and pound. Pyne controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Murat is putting a hurting on Pyne here, landing some big shots from side control.

Murat remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pyne can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pyne takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Pyne parries the strikes from Murat easily there. Murat is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pyne to escape.

Murat creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pyne sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Murat postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Pyne is not content to let Murat control the position.
Murat misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Pyne takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Murat connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pyne some visible discomfort.
The strikes coming from Murat are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ground and pound from Murat seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Murat lands an elbow.
Murat takes a little break here. Pyne wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Murat's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

As Pyne looks to move away, Murat throws a big counter combo but Pyne just gets out of the way.

Pyne misses with an uppercut.
Pyne connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Pyne misses with a lunging right hand
and Murat counters with a nice uppercut.
Pyne throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Murat attempts a counter takedown but Pyne avoids it well and moves away.
A shot to the body from Pyne misses
and Murat counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Pyne throws a jab but it's blocked by Murat.
Pyne misses with a lunging right hand

and Murat counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pyne won't be happy with that.

Murat is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pyne can do to turn this around?
Pyne is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Murat is trying to ground and pound but Pyne uses the momentary lack of control by Murat to regain half guard.
Murat not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Murat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Murat in particular looking to stall.

Charles Murat seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
In defeat, Bobby Pyne stepped up to the mic, saying 'Bruh'.
