Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Lewis (ranked 24416 p4p, 6353 weight class) and Josh Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Johnson!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lewis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Lewis swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control.

Johnson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Johnson stands up and beckons Lewis to his feet.

We've been told by Lewis's head coaches at Cozad MMA New York that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Horrible takedown attempt by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Lewis, which made it look bad.
Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but Lewis gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage.
James Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Johnson.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Johnson.

Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lewis struggles to land a body shot inside as Johnson controls his hands.
Johnson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Lewis up against the cage.
Johnson stalling the fight.
Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lewis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Johnson jumps guard.

Johnson manages to escape and get back to his feet.

It looks like James Lewis has been cut.
No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Lewis. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johnson clinches up against the cage.
Johnson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lewis backwards.
Lewis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Johnson's elbow.
Johnson slowing the pace effectively.

Johnson is struggling to control the position.
A frustrated look appears on Johnson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Johnson is trying to push Lewis away but Lewis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Johnson is looking to take this one to the mat.
Johnson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Johnson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Johnson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lewis avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lewis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lewis is pressed up against the cage. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lewis down to the mat. Lewis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Lewis throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.
No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt.
Johnson shoots in but Lewis avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Lewis gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch.
Lewis is trying to break free.
Johnson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Johnson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Lewis's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

No joy there for Johnson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lewis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lewis wants it to stay on the feet.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Lewis, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Lewis against the cage but Lewis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James Lewis is winning the standup battle so far.

Johnson clinches up with Lewis and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson pulls guard successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lewis manages to get himself to full guard.

Johnson stays in close to Lewis's body and controls the position.

Johnson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson is continuing to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The adventures of Johnson the control monster continue. Boring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lewis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lewis to the mat! Lewis manages to get full guard.
Lewis is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Johnson dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Johnson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
James Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Johnson.
Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lewis went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Lewis avoids the head kick by Johnson.
Lewis avoids a punch combination nicely.

Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lewis defends it nicely.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Lewis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Johnson clinches up with Lewis and pushes him back against the cage.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A right hook to the body lands for Johnson.
Lewis gets underhooks to prevent Johnson's takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Lewis is trying to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling him.

Johnson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lewis is defending well for now.

Lewis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lewis swivels and escapes.
James Lewis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lewis appears to be looking for a big counter.

Johnson has managed to clinch.

Johnson jumps guard and drags Lewis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Johnson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Johnson is trying to push Lewis away but Lewis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lewis has Johnson pressed against the cage, preventing Johnson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Lewis.

Lewis swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Johnson has Lewis up against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Johnson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Lewis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
Johnson pulls Lewis in close to prevent any damage.
Johnson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Johnson is working for a kimura but Lewis is defending it quite comfortably.

Josh Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
