Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Evan Duvernay (ranked 75 p4p, 864 weight class) and Jubei Akechi (ranked 7 p4p, 109 weight class). Evan Duvernay has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Duvernay! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jubei Akechi! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duvernay throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Duvernay misses with a wild body shot. Akechi feints the counter takedown. Duvernay wants to clinch up but Akechi keeps it at a distance. Akechi slips under a jab. Akechi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Duvernays jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Akechi slips a straight right by Duvernay. A clash of legs there as Akechi blocks the low kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duvernay lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Akechi throws a good cross that connects.
Duvernay seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Duvernay is looking to clinch but Akechi is avoiding it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duvernay throws a jab when Akechi was well out of range. Akechi misses with a left hand and Duvernay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Duvernay fails in his attempt to clinch. Akechi appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Akechi lands with an uppercut that bounces Duvernay off the cage and back into range. Akechi takes one on the chin but seems OK.

and Akechi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nice uppercut lands for Duvernay. That snapped Akechi's head back.
Akechi is rocked! Duvernay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Akechi manages to avoid it. Duvernay with poor footwork there. That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Duvernay lands a big uppercut and Akechi crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Akechi looks OK. Duvernay waves Akechi back to his feet! Akechi is still on wobbly legs! Can Duvernay finish him? Duvernay closes the distance and clinches. Duvernay is leaning against Akechi and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Duvernay lands a big right hand that drops Akechi! The killer instinct kicks in and Duvernay finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Duvernay!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Evan Duvernay! Evan Duvernay retains his lightweight title! After winning the bout, Evan Duvernay thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
