Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Warren Worthington Iii (ranked 3064 p4p, 3443 weight class) and Bobby Drake (ranked 406 p4p, 455 weight class). Bobby Drake told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Drake!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake throws a looping overhand right but Worthington Iii ducks down to avoid it.
Drake cracks Worthington Iii with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

It looks like Warren Worthington Iii has been cut.
Drake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd cheers as Worthington Iii lands an impressive looking overhand right. Drake doesn't seem phased though.
A combination from Worthington Iii does no damage.
Drake now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Drake with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Worthington Iii scores with a hook to the body. Drake takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Drake swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Worthington Iii.
Worthington Iii dodges the punch combination from Drake.
Worthington Iii lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Drake circles away quickly and effectively.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Worthington Iii takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Drake slips a jab from Worthington Iii.
Drake has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Worthington Iii on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Drake throws a right hand that Worthington Iii ducks under and follows up with a left that Worthington Iii also avoids with ease.
Worthington Iii is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Worthington Iii uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Drake.
Drake avoids the body shot from Worthington Iii.
Worthington Iii lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Drake circles away quickly and effectively.
Drake doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Drake fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Worthington Iii to the ground. Drake is now in Worthington Iii's guard.
Drake working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Worthington Iii escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drake gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drake trying to control but Worthington Iii is working from the bottom.

Worthington Iii has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Drake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Drake sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Drake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Worthington Iii has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Drake has managed to get both his arms back between Worthington Iii's legs - danger averted.
We've been hearing good reports from Worthington Iii's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Drake slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Drake is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Drake scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Worthington Iii escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drake gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Worthington Iii has momentary wrist control but Drake slips an elbow through the middle.
Drake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Worthington Iii. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Worthington Iii looking for a triangle here. Drake is fighting it but it looks tight! Worthington Iii pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Drake is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Warren Worthington Iii!
