Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rory Schafer (ranked 2530 p4p, 6276 weight class) and Craig Watkins (ranked 335 p4p, 660 weight class). Schafer comes to the cage accompanied by Survival of the Fittest - Mobb Deep. Craig Watkins has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rory Schafer's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rory Schafer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Watkins! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schafer throws out a loose jab but Watkins uses good head movement to avoid it. A head kick misses from Schafer. Schafer misses with a series of wild punches.
Schafer missing with a left hand there. Watkins was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Watkins shoots and misses and Watkins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Watkins throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Watkins doesn't manage to clinch there - Schafer circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Schafer enables Watkins to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Schafer manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Schafer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schafer tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Watkins throws an elbow that misses. Schafer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Watkins's guard. Nice move by Schafer! Watkins is pulling down on Schafer's head to control his posture. Schafer preventing the sweep. Watkins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Watkins is trying to control the position but Schafer postures up. Schafer prevents Watkins from getting back to his feet.

Watkins has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Schafer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Watkins. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Schafer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Watkins shoots in but Schafer avoids the takedown attempt easily. Schafer lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Nice body punch from Schafer. Schafer looks to throw a body kick and Watkins counters with a two punch combo. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Watkins with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schafer to score with a decent uppercut.

He's pushed Watkins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Watkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Watkins tries to clinch up. Watkins is looking to clinch. Watkins tries to clinch up but Schafer circles away and keeps his distance. Watkins on the wrong end of a nice hook. Schafer cracks Watkins with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Watkins tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Schafer pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Watkins is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
