Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 23 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Cruz Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Cruz Jr tests Kerr's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Mark Kerr has been cut. Cruz Jr swings widly with a right hand
and Kerr connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Jorge Cruz Jr has been cut. Cruz Jr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kerr let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Kerr moves out of range as Cruz Jr strikes. A head kick misses from Cruz Jr. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz Jr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kerr is looking for the big counter here. Cruz Jr with a hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Cruz Jr. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Cruz Jr throws a poor cross that misses
letting Kerr counter with a right hand. Cruz Jr misses with a hook. Kerr ducked under it nicely. Cruz Jr lands with a slapping head kick. Jorge Cruz Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kerr takes a jab right on the kisser.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz Jr connects with a stiff jab that staggers Kerr - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jorge Cruz Jr! In his post fight interview, Jorge Cruz Jr started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
