Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quinoa Smiff (ranked 4653 p4p, 4650 weight class) and Umberto Grena (ranked 558 p4p, 557 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Quinoa Smiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Umberto Grena!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grena gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Grena keeping full guard, as Smiff tries to pass.
Smiff stopping the sweep attempt from Grena.
Smiff prevents Grena from getting back to his feet.
Smiff advances to half guard.
Grena is trying to maintain the position but Smiff is very close to passing his half guard.
Grena tries to roll over but Smiff keeps him under control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grena is in all sorts of trouble here.
Smiff goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Grena turns into him and now he's in Smiff's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smiff wants to stand up but Grena is controlling him.

Grena loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Smiff has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Grena has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Grena wants to break the clinch but can't.
Grena pulls guard successfully.
Smiff is pushing down on Grena's leg trying to pass to half guard. Grena is fighting to maintain full guard but Smiff has managed to sneak the leg through.
Grena trying to hold on to Smiff's head to control him but Smiff postures up.
Smiff seems to be working for a kimura but Grena defends the submission attempt.

Smiff passes the guard and advances to mount!
Smiff jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Grena manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Smiff tries for a kimura but Grena is defending well.
Grena is trying to get back to half guard.
Smiff looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Grena can't do much from the bottom here.

Smiff avoids the strikes from the bottom by Grena.
Smiff is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Grena knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Grena wants to control but Smiff postures up.
Smiff is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Grena is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smiff is trying to get an arm triangle but Grena is defending well.
Grena is trying to get back to half guard.
Smiff tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smiff has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Grena wants to control but Smiff postures up.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Grena tries to sprawl but Smiff drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Smiff works his way into side control.
Smiff goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Grena rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Smiff's guard! Nice work there by Grena!
Grena postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Smiff pushes Grena off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Smiff throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grena tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smiff is in Grena's guard.

Smiff advances to half guard.
Grena really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smiff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smiff trying to mount his opponent but Grena defends it.
Smiff is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smiff frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Smiff wants to take Grena's back but he can't do it this time.
Smiff moves to the back.
Smiff looking for the choke from the back.
Grena breaks Smiff's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Grena tries to free his leg and advance position but Smiff is retaining full guard.

Smiff has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Grena is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smiff is looking to take this one to the mat.
Grena tries to pull guard but Smiff holds him up against the cage and eventually Grena drops back down to his feet.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Grena has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Grena is trying to break the clinch but Smiff is controlling him.
Smiff prevents a takedown attempt there.

Grena trying to stall but Smiff improves his position.
Grena fails to pull guard.
Quinoa Smiff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Umberto Grena.
Smiff keeps control of Grena as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smiff has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Grena clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Smiff is persistently looking for the submission but Grena is defending it well.
