Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neil Diaz (ranked 4291 p4p, 5326 weight class) and Marcos Martinez (ranked 512 p4p, 581 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Neil Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Martinez!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez throws a leg kick
and Diaz counters with a nice leg kick.
Diaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Martinez manages to avoid it.
Martinez throws a head kick that misses.
As Martinez looks to move away, Diaz throws a big counter combo but Martinez just gets out of the way.
Diaz throws a sloppy head kick
enabling Martinez to counter with a crisp jab.
Martinez dives in and grabs Diaz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes down on Martinez's head and hops out.
A decent looking cross lands there for Diaz.
A chopping leg kick lands by Diaz.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martinez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Martinez is in Diaz's guard.
Martinez trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.
Diaz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Martinez won't allow Diaz to get back to his feet.

Martinez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Martinez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Martinez cracks Diaz with a solid left hand.
Diaz keeping moving, preventing Martinez from controlling successfully.
Martinez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Martinez tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.
Martinez trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Diaz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Martinez.
Martinez looking to pass the guard.
Martinez trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Martinez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Martinez or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz, which made it look bad.
Diaz throws a front kick that sends Martinez stumbling back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz throws a solid leg kick but Martinez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Diaz.

Neil Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcos Martinez.
Martinez takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Martinez shoots and misses

and Diaz counters with a left and a right that hurts Martinez! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Diaz jumps into full mount!

Martinez is rocked!

Diaz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Martinez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Martinez shrugs it off.
Martinez is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him?
Martinez tries to control Diaz's body but Diaz pushes him off. Martinez squirms to his side and now Diaz has his back!

Diaz is working for a rear naked choke. Martinez is not defending it well and Diaz has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Martinez refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Martinez's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Neil Diaz!
Neil Diaz decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
