The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams slips a jab and a cross from Cooper.
A nice leg kick lands there from Williams. Williams moves away from the strike by Cooper. Cooper avoids the body shot from Williams.
Williams tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cooper cracks a nice hook into Williams's ribs. Cooper takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Cooper shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Williams throws a head kick but Cooper moves out of range.

Cooper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cooper landing some decent shots from guard. Williams is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cooper can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Williams tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. The referee stands the fighters back up. William Williams just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Cooper is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Williams. Cooper jabbing away but nothing is landing. A big right from Cooper misses. Williams lands with a kick to the temple. Cooper shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Cooper shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Williams pinned against the cage. Williams gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Cooper wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Cooper swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A clash of legs there as Williams blocks the low kick. Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cooper fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Williams looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cooper moves out of range of the body kick from Williams.

Cooper works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Williams tries to bench press Cooper off him but Cooper keeps the position. Oh Williams is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Cooper pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Williams swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Cooper scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Cooper has hold of Williams's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Williams manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams tries to hold on but Cooper pushes him away. Williams seems to have got his legs back now. Cooper prevents Williams from getting the reversal. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Williams in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. BOOM! Cooper connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Richard Cooper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Williams lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cooper misses with a double jab.
Crunch! Williams slams his shin into Cooper's torso. Cooper moves out of range of the body kick from Williams.

Williams walks into a stiff left hand from Cooper. Williams looks for the body kick but Cooper saw that one coming. Cooper connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Cooper lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Williams circles away quickly and effectively. Cooper works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Richard Cooper has got the better of the ground game so far. Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cooper gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cooper connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Williams's hands. Cooper misses with a series of wild punches.
