PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Moganesh Jain (ranked 816 p4p, 813 weight class) and Sergey Objedkov (ranked 43 p4p, 42 weight class). Jain comes to the cage accompanied by The Monkey King. Sergey Objedkov will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moganesh Jain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Objedkov!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Objedkov misses with an uppercut. Jain saw that one coming.
Jain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Objedkov misses with a straight left.

Objedkov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jain tries to improve position but can't.
Jain wants to control but Objedkov postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jain is looking to regain half guard here but Objedkov keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Objedkov working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Jain tries to roll over but Objedkov keeps him under control.
Objedkov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Objedkov wants to pass to mount but Jain is defending the position.
Jain is controlling Objedkov's trapped leg to prevent Objedkov from advancing to side control.

Objedkov is nestled in close to Jain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Objedkov connects with a nice short shot to Jain's temple.

Objedkov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jain is trying to defend but Objedkov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Sergey Objedkov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jain bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jain tries to free his leg and advance position but Objedkov is retaining full guard.
Objedkov trying to keep a closed guard but Jain is proving a slippery customer.

Jain has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Objedkov to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Jain is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Objedkov pulls down on the head and he's put Jain to sleep! This one is all over!
