PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Gib (ranked 4549 p4p, 6419 weight class) and Ryan Ingle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ingle has chosen Magical Eraser as his entrance music. Ryan Ingle will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Gib!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Ingle!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gib closes the distance and clinches.
Ingle looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Gib tries to circle away but Ingle has him pinned against the cage.
Gib wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gib is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Gib will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Ingle up against the cage.
Ingle tries for a takedown but Gib manages to get underhooks.
Gib is trying to push Ingle away but Ingle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Stalling in the clinch from Gib.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Gib manages to pull guard.
Gib bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ingle's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gib is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gib stands and throws Ingle's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Gib decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ingle to his feet.

Gib gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ingle has Gib pressed against the cage, preventing Gib from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Gib drags the fight down to the ground.
Gib is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Gib throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gib is on top in guard.

Gib stands up from Ingle's guard - Gib perhaps looking for a knockout.
John Gib seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gib fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gib.
Ingle doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Gib looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ingle now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Gib has closed the distance and engaged Ingle in a clinch.
Gib tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ingle avoids it.
Gib is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gib manages to pull guard.
Ingle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gib. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gib is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ingle is aware though and is defending well.
Gib wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Gib looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gib has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ingle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gib escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ingle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gib is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gib controlling the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

John Gib dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gib will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ingle replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Gib blocks it well.
John Gib is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ingle defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gib.
Ingle drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gib defends it well.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gib.
Ingle steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Horrible takedown attempt by Gib or perhaps it was just good defense by Ingle, which made it look bad.
And Ingle tries to counter it with a takedown but Gib pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Ingle is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gib misses with a head kick.

Gib throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ingle's waist but Ingle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gib off to one side.
A nice side step and Ingle releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Gib shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ingle defends it nicely.
Gib misses the shot to the body.
And Ingle responds with a good body kick, but Gib manages to step out the way in time.
Gib is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ingle can do to turn this around?

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Ingle has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gib after a bit of a struggle.

Gib is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ingle pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ingle has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Gib seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Ingle can turn it around.
Gib wants to break free but Ingle has control.

Gib lands a big shot there that rocks Ingle but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ingle taking shots to the head.
Ingle holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gib tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Gib seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ingle for as long as he can get away with.

Gib continues to stall.

Gib is working for a guillotine from mount but Ingle frees his head quite easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Gib throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ingle follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Gib shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Gib pushes Ingle up against the cage in a clinch.
Gib wants to take the fight to the mat but Ingle manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Ingle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gib pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Gib wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Gib. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gib has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ingle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Gib pushes off an throws an elbow but Ingle leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

John Gib overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gib is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Gib's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Gib's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Gib passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Ingle parries the strikes from Gib easily there. Gib is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ingle to escape.

Gib stands up and we're back to a striking position.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gib.

Gib takes the fight into the clinch.

Gib controlling Ingle's posture.
Gib lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ryan Ingle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

John Gib showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gib, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
