Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Johnson (ranked 5581 p4p, 24404 weight class) and James Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lewis, pushing him back against the cage.
Johnson wants to get back to striking at distance but Lewis won't allow it.
Lewis swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Johnson jumps into guard, dragging Lewis to the mat.

Johnson looking for a guillotine here but Lewis defends easily.
Lewis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lewis manages to get himself to full guard.

Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Johnson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Johnson tries to circle away but Lewis has him pinned against the cage.
Lewis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Johnson or not.

Lewis throws out a loose jab but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johnson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Lewis.

Johnson tries to pull guard but Lewis holds him up against the cage and eventually Johnson drops back down to his feet.
Johnson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Johnson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lewis after a bit of a struggle.
Lewis prevents the takedown attempt.
Johnson stalls.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lewis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Lewis connects with a body shot.

Johnson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Johnson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lewis is defending well for now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Josh Johnson will probably get the nod.

Johnson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Lewis has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Johnson throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Lewis is pressed up against the cage. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lewis down to the mat. Lewis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Johnson seems keen to control Lewis's posture.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lewis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lewis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lewis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lewis has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

Johnson has Lewis pulled in close to control his posture.
Johnson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
