Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Barnes (ranked 896 p4p, 852 weight class) and Wilmerr Fudd (ranked 130 p4p, 118 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Barnes might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to We Want The Funk. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Derrick Barnes !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wilmerr Fudd!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fudd avoids a punch combination nicely.
Barnes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Barnes misses with a series of wild punches.
Barnes swings for the body but Fudd moves out of range.
Barnes misses with a series of wild punches.
Jab by Fudd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fudd throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Barnes counters with a right hand to the body.
A slow jab from Fudd misses its intended target.
Fudd ducks right into an uppercut from Barnes .
Barnes takes a swing at Fudd's ribcage but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Fudd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barnes 's waist but Barnes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fudd off to one side.
Barnes takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Fudd just misses with a punch to the body.
Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fudd's guard.
Barnes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fudd bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barnes 's guard.
Barnes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fudd with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Fudd postures up and lands a big shot to Barnes 's brow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fudd is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Barnes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Fudd is in close to Barnes 's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Barnes wants to sweep here but Fudd controlling him for the moment.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fudd is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Barnes is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnes is trying to keep Fudd in close.
Oh Barnes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fudd working some strikes from top position.
Fudd loads up on a big left hand. Barnes felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Fudd looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Barnes can't hide his disappointment, as Fudd celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wilmerr Fudd!
After the fight, Wilmerr Fudd was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
