Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Reyes (ranked 4251 p4p, 6221 weight class) and Bruno Sultan (ranked 352 p4p, 458 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Reyes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruno Sultan ! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sultan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reyes quickly recovers to half guard. Sultan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reyes trying to hold on to Sultan 's head to control him but Sultan postures up.
Sultan trying to control the action but Reyes is working from the bottom. Sultan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Reyes tries to get to full guard but Sultan has control of the leg. Sultan tries to stand and escape but Reyes is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sultan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reyes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sultan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sultan is trying to control. Reyes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Reyes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Reyes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Reyes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sultan on the ground. Sultan wants to stand but Reyes is controlling the position. Reyes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sultan dives on top into guard. Reyes keeping moving, preventing Sultan from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reyes pulls Sultan in to control the position. Sultan passes Reyes's left leg - he's now in half guard. Reyes is not content to let Sultan control the position. Sultan thows a huge punch but Reyes dodges it nicely.
Sultan slips a nice elbow through Reyes's hands, connecting with Reyes's forehead. Sultan is just content to waste time from the top position. Reyes takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Sultan wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reyes trying to control the position.
Sultan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Sultan wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving. Sultan slips nicely into half guard. Sultan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reyes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Reyes trying to control but Sultan postures up.

Reyes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Reyes throws a body kick that misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Sultan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Reyes looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Sultan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reyes sprawls well initially but Sultan persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reyes is not content to let Sultan control the position. Sultan winds up and cracks Reyes with a swinging punch to the side of the head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bruno Sultan dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! No luck for Sultan with that takedown attempt. Sultan shoots in looking for a takedown but Reyes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sultan 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Reyes half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. John Reyes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sultan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Sultan tries to clinch there but Reyes circles away.
Reyes tries to counter with a takedown but Sultan is quick to defend against it. Sultan wants to clinch up but Reyes keeps it at a distance. Reyes takes a kick to the side of the head. Reyes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice takedown defense from Reyes. No joy for Sultan on that attempt. John Reyes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Sultan . Reyes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sultan pinned against the cage. Sultan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reyes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Sultan wants to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reyes shoots in looking for a takedown but Sultan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reyes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Sultan wants to counter the offense by Reyes and move into the clinch position. Reyes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sultan to score an easy takedown into full guard. Reyes wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sultan manages to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sultan wants to take a breather but Reyes is having none of it. Sultan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Reyes haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reyes is trying to get back to full guard. Reyes is staying active underneath Sultan , who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sultan looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Bruno Sultan has got the better of the ground game so far. Reyes wants to sweep but Sultan has passed to side control! Sultan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Reyes to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sultan shoots in and bounces Reyes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Reyes is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sultan presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Reyes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sultan taking a breather. Reyes wants to take the fight to the mat but Sultan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Sultan tries to pull guard but Reyes forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Reyes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Reyes leaves Sultan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Reyes thuds a left hand into Sultan 's body. Reyes feints a jab promting Sultan to slip. Reyes then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sultan slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sultan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reyes. Reyes throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Sultan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sultan . Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sultan trying to control the position from guard on top but Reyes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that John Reyes will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Sultan moves in looking to clinch but Reyes pushes him off. Reyes swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Reyes clinches up against the cage. Reyes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sultan gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Reyes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sultan wants to stall.
A head punch on the inside from Sultan fails to land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reyes misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sultan .

Sultan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Reyes pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Sultan as Reyes shoots in. Sultan is looking for the big counter here. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reyes takes the fight into the clinch. Reyes lands a left hand.
Reyes is trying to pull guard but Sultan has him pressed against the cage. Reyes prevents a takedown attempt there.
Reyes is looking for a takedown. Sultan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Sultan blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Sultan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reyes avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Sultan breaks from the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reyes bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sultan 's head. Sultan gets tackled into the cage by Reyes. Reyes maintains the clinch. Reyes tries to score a body lock takedown but Sultan shows good agility there to stay on his feet. A short right from Reyes. Sultan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Reyes walks away with a smile on his face. Sultan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sultan fails in his attempt to clinch. Sultan is looking to clinch. Reyes is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Sultan . Reyes avoids the body shot from Sultan .
Reyes wants to clinch. Sultan stuffs the takedown. Sultan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reyes swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reyes with a lazy takedown attempt and Sultan counters with a shoot takedown. Reyes fights it but they end up in guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sultan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Reyes keeping moving, preventing Sultan from controlling successfully. Sultan tries to free his leg and advance position but Reyes is retaining full guard. Sultan trying to control the position from guard on top but Reyes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sultan looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sultan trying to control but Reyes is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Reyes shoots in but Sultan avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sultan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reyes's guard. Sultan trying to control the position from guard on top but Reyes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reyes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sultan defends well. Sultan wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Reyes. I think Reyes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
