The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues fails with a takedown attempt.
We've been informed that Boxer Jr has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Rodrigues tries to counter by clinching up but Boxer Jr breaks away and moves out of range.
Boxer Jr bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rodrigues's head backwards.

Boxer Jr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rodrigues stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Boxer Jr shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rodrigues eats them both and turns towards Boxer Jr to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Boxer Jr throws a shot from downtown. Rodrigues moves away and avoids it.
Boxer Jr avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rodrigues tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boxer Jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rodrigues jumps guard but Boxer Jr stands there with Rodrigues around his waist. Rodrigues gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Boxer Jr lands a really nice looking cross but Rodrigues seems unphased.
Rodrigues tries to clinch there but Boxer Jr circles away.
Boxer Jr scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rodrigues doesn't seem bothered though.
Rodrigues tries to close the distance and clinch but Boxer Jr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Boxer Jr throws a hook to the side of Rodrigues's head but Rodrigues sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boxer Jr swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rodrigues.
Boxer Jr cracks Rodrigues with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Rodrigues is rocked!
Rodrigues drops his hands momentarily. Boxer Jr doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Rodrigues staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Rodrigues doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
