Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Puli Sonki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trond Pedersveen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Puli Sonki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trond Pedersveen!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pedersveen gets caught flat footed, as Sonki shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sonki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pedersveen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pedersveen pulls Sonki in close to prevent any damage.
Sonki forces his way into half guard.

Sonki is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sonki is looking for a kimura here.

Sonki is working for a kimura but Pedersveen is defending it quite comfortably.

Pedersveen is staying active underneath Sonki, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Sonki misses with a takedown attempt - Pedersveen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pedersveen tries to clinch but Sonki is having none of it.

and Sonki decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pedersveen's guard.
Sonki is looking to advance position but Pedersveen has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

You can see the frustration on Pedersveen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sonki connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pedersveen some visible discomfort.

Pedersveen gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Sonki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Sonki swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pedersveen is now in Sonki's guard. A big mistake from Sonki there, giving up the dominant position!

Pedersveen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sonki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's time! Sonki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Sonki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pedersveen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sonki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pedersveen keeps working.
Sonki is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Pedersveen controls Sonki momentarily but Sonki frees himself.

Pedersveen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sonki is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pedersveen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sonki's back instead.
Sonki rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Sonki is trying to maintain the position but Pedersveen is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pedersveen missing with a left hand there. Sonki was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Sonki decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Puli Sonki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sonki has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pedersveen tries to hold on but Sonki postures up.

Sonki goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pedersveen turns into him and now he's in Sonki's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Puli Sonki showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sonki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
